     The Park Police Volunteer Academy
The M-NC Park Police, PG Div. host the Park Police Volunteer Academy usually twice each year. The academy meets one night a week for eight weeks. Members of the community learn about the function of the Park Police, criminal and traffic laws, radio procedures, personal protection, drug issues, crime scene investigation, and other areas of interest. CPR training is also part of the academy training.

Individuals completing the academy are then invited to join the PPVA. Members of the association volunteer their services to the Park Police. Volunteers perform bicycle patrols on hiker/biker trails, fingerprint citizens for child care clearances and employment purposes, provide information and traffic direction at large events and festivals, and perform other important tasks for the Park Police. Membership in the PPVA is $10.00 per year. We welcome all adults, 18 and over, to our very diverse Association.

If you would like to become a Park Police Volunteer, please print out the Volunteer Application form and bring it to the next PPVA meeting. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM at Park Police Headquarters, 6700 Riverdale Road, Riverdale, MD 20737.
