Executive Board Member & Fingerprinter

I had recently moved to the Hyattsville area and was looking to volunteer in the community in some way. I had narrowed it down to 2 options that I had read about in the Pennysaver. After contacting both places, I was impressed with how the Park Police responded. At the time, the person heading the PPVA was "Gunny". He was extremely friendly and personable and encouraged me to join.

I was not familiar with what the Park Police did at all, but certainly did love spending time in Maryland parks, so I thought I would attend the academy. There I learned the Park Police did far more than I thought, and had a very good record in doing it.

After graduating, I have spent most of my time fingerprinting. I was trained by CJIS and find it interesting. This skill also provides me opportunities to interact with the community and children, whom I've worked with for years.

Beyond all this, I have met some wonderful people and developed special friendships.
