Stables, Fingerprint, County Fair, some Park Watch

In 1996 I was walking around the Prince George's County Fair and saw this advertisement for Park Police Volunteers. What caught my attention was the photo of a mounted policeman on the board. I commented that that was what I wanted to do. I was urged to join the PPVA class that was starting the following month, and that was the beginning of a, so far, 10 year span of being a volunteer. At first I only wanted to work with the horses, but gradually became in involved in many aspects of PPVA activities. It has been sometimes hard, sometimes easy, but all the time worthwhile!

I am currently Fingerprint coordinator, and was Secretary for 4 1/2 years. I also currently serve on the Uniform board.

The most satisfaction I get out of the PPVA is fingerprinting children...knowing that their parents have their fingerprints should anything happen to them. I also enjoy fingerprinting adults for their various reasons...from jobs to adopting children, and other reasons in between. Helping people provides a satisfaction like no other.

Come help serve your community with us!
